A. Too little potassium.
Potassium is a vital electrolyte that helps regulate muscle and kidney function. Low potassium levels, a condition known as hypokalemia, can cause muscle weakness, cramps, and affect kidney function. Potassium is essential for maintaining normal cell function, nerve transmission, and muscle contraction, including the muscles of the heart and kidneys.
While both too little and too much of certain electrolytes can be harmful, low potassium is specifically linked to weakened muscles and impaired kidney function.
